The Birmingham Business Alliance has hired veteran editor Julie Keith as the vice president of publishing of Birmingham magazine.

Keith replaces Joe O'Donnell, who spent 22 years heading the magazine when it was under the Birmingham Regional Chamber of Commerce. O'Donnell stepped down last month after the chamber merged with Region 2020 and the Metropolitan Development Board and became known as the Birmingham Business Alliance.

Keith has 16 years of experience in the magazine industry, including stints as the editor-in chief and owner of Thicket and editor of Portico magazine. In her new position, Keith will lead the magazine staff, overseeing editorial development, creative direction, online presence, circulation and sales and marketing efforts.
